Welcome to a new way to look at social media.
Join us each week as we get to know and support some incredible businesses across Australia from a variety of industries.
I wanted to start with a business that I have seen first hand. Their hard work, passion and drive has enabled Kylie to work full-time in the business and it’s continuing to thrive. Introducing…Kylie & Chris from Mrs Nargar & Co.
Firstly, thank you for being our first guest blog in our new series Community Always Wins. So, tell us all a little about your business?
Together with my husband Chris we created Mrs Nargar & Co. just over 5 year ago. We wanted to bring a fresh vintage look style of candle to the market place, featuring a gorgeous crackling wood wick and a unique black board style label. We love to source all of our supplies locally here in Australia and we are involved in every step of our creative and production process.
How do you use social media to promote your business? and what platforms does Mrs Nargar & Co use?
Social media is an integral part of our business journey and is used on a daily basis.
We use social media to promote markets and events we will be at, like Business Chicks 9 to Thrive, Sweet Expo Sydney and The Handmade Market in Canberra.
Of course we showcase our entire product range with direct links back to our website.
However, we also use social media to promote our AMAZING stockists. We love sharing the love and thank them for supporting us.
When we first started our business, we used Facebook. Once we started to grow and got our confidence, we set up our Instagram page.
What is your favourite social media platform to use and why?
Our favourite would have be Instagram, it’s a feast for the eyes.
We love the ease of Instagram and being able to scroll down our feed and others to see beautiful pictures, reading incredible business stories, following their journey and feeling motivated with inspirational quotes.
On the flip side, Instagram stories is where we love to be. Showcasing our behind the scenes shots, from making our candles, setting up at our events and the everyday life in business, which we hope makes our audience feel apart of our journey.
What do you love about social media for your business?
Without doubt our number one love of social media is being able to connect with our current customers, introducing ourselves to new customers and develop relationships with other business owners. We have been very fotunate to have made new relationships, many of whom we can now call friends.
Secondly, being creative by finding new and interesting ways to promote our gorgeous products.
If you could change anything about using social media for your business, what would it be?
We have been using social media for our business for 5 years and we are always learning. The ongoing changes mean we need to stay on our game.
If we have to pin point one area, we would love to be more present though video.
We believe this will allow us to speak directly with our followers.
What would be your biggest tip for those just getting started with social media?
Seek some advice from a social media expert or someone you know that you can trust with setting up your account. Someone that can give you the right tools to get started and put you on the right path.
Know what you would like to achieve from your socia media. Plan! Banking content in advance so you dont have to post on the run or think about what your next piece of content should be. Don’t forget to use your industry related hashtags.
Most importantly just start, you will find your way quickly.
Thanks to Kylie & Chris from Mrs Nargar & Co!
